We love wooden toys and this one is no exception. The Melissa & Doug wooden railway set is well designed and well constructed and should give many many years of service and play value. It includes the track, a selection of trains and loads of accessories to give your child lots to do. It is also compatible with all other popular wooden railway systems so you can mix and match with existing layouts. Our grandson has one of these sets and he absolutely loves it as there are so many combinations to construct. Children bore easily and the vast number of variations with this set means that there is always something new. We believe taht toys should be judged on the hours of play value that they represent and this wooden railway set will prove to be excellent value as it will be played with for years.

Our verdict: Amazing value at the price. Any small child, boy or girl, with love this layout which is easy to dismantle and put away once playtime has finished. We keep ours in a plastic trug so that it can be easily hidden away when not in use. 

Description: This beautiful Wooden Railway Set includes a six-piece freight train, complete with cargo, a four-piece passenger train, and a three-piece flatbed truck with cargo. The wooden trains and the truck each feature durable plastic wheels held to the bodies with smooth, steel rivets. The wooden flatbed truck allows your child to replicate the real-world transfer of cargo from the train to the truck, and then on to the local shops for the final delivery. Hours of play value to keep any child happy and quiet for hours.

The set also includes some train engineers who can help direct traffic as the trains come in and out of the station. To load cargo on and off the trains, the set includes two magnetized crane assemblies, a tower frame and an A-frame - each feature a special lever for raising and lowering the cargo, which all children will love. It also includes a wooden suspension bridge, trestle bridge, a five-way switch, and an engine shed where the wooden railway engines can park when not in use. Several trees and road signs are also included.
